I want to do as much damage as possible
Hey everyone,
I want to create a character that does as much damage as possible to a single target. I like taking out enemies one by one. I want to take them down as fast as possible. I don't really want to be an elementalist though because my friend is one right now and I want to be different. Any suggestions?
Edit: THIS IS FOR PvE BY THE WAY.
Thanks,
Joey

I've had a lot of success with Dual Shot, Kindle Arrows, and Poison Arrow. Then I add Distracting Shot, Whirling Defense, Troll Unguent, Pin Down, and Resurrection Signet/Vengeance/Restore Life.

He's talking about a Ranger by the way.. I would agree with that. But there is no single class that deals the most damage to every kind of player.

Umm, the broad answer to your questions is:
Elementalist (Air, earth, water, fire in that order)
Considering what you are PvEing and likely building a new character:
W/E closely followed by R/E, than maybe some W/Mo, R/Mo smite builds. Best solo PvE is the N/E from what I hear, Putrid and Meteor shower being central. Illusionary Weapondry is the only timmy skill you would like for a Mez build.

Actually that depends. He wants to do the most damage to a single target without being an Elementalist...
That's like saying you want to do the most damage without skills as a warrior...
It's a tough call really. Outside of the Elementalist, all other forms of damage have resistance to armor save Holy damage.
I suppose going Me/Mo Holy Smiter would help. I'd be against going Mo/Me smiter cause the Divine Favor doesn't help Smiting all that much.
Mesmer half takes energy from enemies and uses it to blast them using armor penetrating Smite strikes. Shield of Judgement to keep warriors off ya with chaff enchantments to protect. [till Rend comes along] Ah... Yep, I'd say find a way to be a Smiter if you don't want to go elementalist.

Grenth's Balance anyone?
Basically for a ranger, just look at all those preparations combined with a dual shot. Nothing bugs me more than those Avicara Fierce... ouch.

There is no resistance to shadow damage, too!
But the monk has spells that reduce the damage, ignoring what source it is!

If you don't want to be an elementalist then your other option is a W/Ele.
Use an axe that does fire dmg and conjure flame. You can also add Mark of Rodgort for more dmg.

Uh, shadow damage? How about chaos damage like with...almost any mesmer skill, both of those sorts ignore armor. Shame they just do a set amount of damage though.
A ranger played properly can dish out a fair amount mixed in with some DoTs, uh...hell...mesmers can dish out the numbers fairly good too BUT most of those skills depend on enemy actions.
